Sheffield Wednesday have the chance to climb above Sunderland and into fifth place in League One when Burton Albion arrive at Hillsborough this evening.
The Owls continued their good form with a straightforward 2-0 victory over Charlton Athletic at the weekend, Wednesday restricted the Addicks to just one shot on target in the match and gained on those around them with Plymouth Argyle and Wycombe Wanderers tasting defeat.
Darren Moore’s men are starting to welcome some key players back from injury ahead of the business end of the season and will be expecting to pick up another three points against a Burton side with little to play for.
Here, we are predicting one change from the side that comfortably beat Charlton at the weekend…
The sole alteration is Florian Kamberi stepping in for Saido Berahino.
The latter has only completed a match twice this season and therefore the quick turnaround could prove a tough ask for him physically.
Kamberi has scored double the league goals of Berahino, four since joining on loan from St Gallen, and has also started 12 league games to Berahino’s six, with Josh Windass and Lee Gregory remaining sidelined Kamberi is next in the pecking order to come into the line-up.
It all boils down to how the midfield three perform on the day, George Byers has made some vital goalscoring contributions in recent weeks and continues to thrive in central areas next to the experienced duo of Massimo Luongo and Barry Bannan.
The Owls’ play-off procession has almost directly correlated with Luongo returning to regular first team football and with an assured defensive three behind them, Jimmy-Floyd Hasselbaink’s men could have their work cut out trying to take anything from the game.
