Saint-Étienne host Red Star on Saturday at 20:00 in a top-of-the-table clash, but Florian Tardieu is sidelined with a calf issue.
According to Le Progres, the 33-year-old suffered the problem on Tuesday and is due to undergo tests on Thursday afternoon. He had only just returned to the starting XI in the 3-0 win at Pau.
It is a setback for Philippe Montanier, though there is progress among long-term absentees. Chico Lamba has trained with the group all week and will return via the reserves first. That may not be at Romorantin on Saturday at 18:00, with a home outing preferred over a long trip.
Maxime Bernauer and Mahmoud Jaber are easing back, taking part in warm-ups and technical drills.
Nadir El Jamali underwent knee surgery on Monday and the length of his absence is not yet known. The timeframe for Joao Ferreira is also unclear, his hand injury has yet to consolidate and the Portuguese cannot resume contact training.
