Forlán names first Uruguay squad including Varela, Piquerez and Arrascaeta

Diego Forlán has named his first Uruguay squad, a 26-man group, for the national team's first fixtures since the World Cup.
According to Globo.com, three Brazil-based players are included, Guillermo Varela and Giorgian de Arrascaeta of Flamengo, and Joaquín Piquerez of Palmeiras.
Uruguay face Japan on 24 September, then play South Korea on 28 September, before meeting India on 6 October.
The former striker will initially serve in an interim capacity, with the Uruguayan Football Association due to hold elections in 2027.
Other call-ups include Ronald Araujo, José María Giménez, Sebastián Cáceres and Mathías Olivera in defence, Federico Valverde, Rodrigo Bentancur and Lucas Torreira in midfield, and forwards Darwin Núñez, Martín Satriano, Federico Viñas and Rodrigo Aguirre.
