Former FC Nantes defender Marcus Coco (29) is on the verge of joining Romanian club CFR Cluj, according to a report from L’Équipe.

Coco’s contract at Nantes expired at the end of last season, and he has been training the the UNFP FC team over the summer, a camp designed for out-of-contract footballers in France. He has had options to return to the professional game. Coco had an offer to move to Russia, however, he was dissuaded by his parents, instead opting to wait for other options to present themselves.

More offers did arrive, and he is now set to accept one of them. As per L’Équipe, the defender had the option to join Hapoel Tel-Aviv or CFR Cluj. He has decided to join the latter. Coco is now on the verge of signing a two-year deal with the Romanians. There, he will link up with Kurt Zouma, who joined CFR Cluj earlier this week.
