Former Real Madrid and AC Milan ace proud of Sunderland star's Premier League impact | OneFootball

Huntelaar has voiced pride in helping shape Brian Brobbey’s path as the Sunderland striker makes his mark in the Premier League. “We brought him back. I feel quite proud, too.”

He told Voetbal International. Brobbey joined from Ajax in summer 2025 and played a leading role as Regis Le Bris’ side secured Europa League qualification with a seventh-place finish.

Leading the line with power and presence, he scored 10 goals in 38 appearances, and his influence extended well beyond those numbers.

After leaving Ajax on a free to join RB Leipzig in summer 2021, he returned on loan months later and re-signed permanently in 2022. He went on to tally 56 goals in 163 for the Amsterdam club.

“I still send him a message every now and then. Like when he did well against Manchester City, with three goals. Brian is a good guy.”

“He is starting to make progress again and make a name for himself. It is coming out more slowly. It is nice to see. He could have shown even more at Ajax, but he can show even more now. He needs to take that final step in the Premier League.”
