Fabinho’s playing career has taken him from Real Madrid Castilla to Monaco, Liverpool and now Al-Ittihad, but the Brazilian has made it clear that his admiration for Los Blancos has never faded.

More than a decade after his brief spell at the Santiago Bernabeu, the midfielder has spoken warmly about the possibility of wearing the famous white shirt again.

Although there is no suggestion that Real Madrid are considering a move for the experienced midfielder, his comments offered a reminder of the strong connection he still feels with the club where he first experienced top-level European football.

Fabinho leaves no doubt

During an interview with El Chiringuito TV, the Brazil international was asked whether he would be interested in returning to the Santiago Bernabeu if the opportunity ever arose, to which he said,

“Would I like to return to Real Madrid? Who wouldn’t like being at Real Madrid? It’s the best club in the world.”

It must be noted that while a Fabinho return to Real Madrid is not part of the club’s current plans, the midfielder’s admiration for Los Blancos remains as strong as ever.

A short spell in Madrid that launched a remarkable career

Fabinho first arrived in the Spanish capital in 2012 when he joined Real Madrid Castilla on loan.

It was also during that period that he crossed paths with Jose Mourinho, who personally welcomed the youngster after his arrival in Madrid.

The Brazilian would go on to make one senior appearance for the club, coming off the bench against Malaga in La Liga in May 2013.

Replacing former defender Fabio Coentrao, he produced an immediate impact by setting up Angel Di Maria during a convincing 6-2 victory at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Despite that encouraging debut, regular opportunities proved difficult to find.

Seeking consistent first-team football, Fabinho opted to continue his development with Monaco, a move that transformed his career.

His performances in France eventually earned him a transfer to Liverpool, where he established himself as one of Europe’s top defensive midfielders.

During his time at Anfield, he lifted both the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League before beginning a new chapter with Al-Ittihad.
