After winning El Clasico and ending a poor record against Barcelona, Real Madrid return to the field this weekend when they take on Valencia at the Santiago Bernabeu.
The game, in theory, should be an easy one for Los Blancos who are in red-hot form and the league leaders by some distance.
After all, Valencia are struggling this season and have just nine points after ten games and are in the relegation zone.
That, however, is exactly what gives the visitors the freedom to go all out on Saturday night for they have nothing to lose, and Real Madrid will likely have to work hard for the win.
Speaking on Radio MARCA, former Real Madrid and Valencia star Denis Cheryshev discussed the upcoming La Liga clash between the two teams and how Los Blancos should be wary of the tricky opponent when on the post-Clasico high.
“I think that’s the exact definition of a trap game. You win El Clasico, you go up by five points, and then Valencia comes along, third from bottom – but it’s a trap game, a real trap.”

He then gave his verdict on the recent Clasico itself, stating how Real Madrid were the better team by some distance.
“Real Madrid was much superior to Barcelona in the Clasico. The work of Xabi and his coaching staff is very noticeable, the team has improved especially in the pressure out of possession.”
When asked to comment on Vinicius Jr.’s dissent on being substituted and the saga that followed, Cheryshev sympathised with the Brazilian saying:
“He himself knows that he was wrong, he has apologised and I’m sure he has also done it with his teammates.”
“These things happen, but the important thing is to continue, because the season is very long and everyone will be important,” he added.
The player also praised Real Madrid for their unity and spirit in the dressing room and how it has turned around massively from last season.
“For there to be a healthy locker room there has to be honesty at work, and that is being seen in Madrid. Everyone is having minutes and that is very positive.”
Finally, the defender was asked if Kylian Mbappe is the best player in the world at the moment, to which he said,
“He is probably the most decisive player in the world right now. It’s always good for Madrid to score and give assists.”
