Yui Hasegawa, Aoba Fujino, Risa Shimizu and Sam Coffey all featured in the United States’ 3-0 win over Japan in an international friendly.

The final instalment of their three-match series, both sides came into the tie with a victory apiece but the hosts’ three-goal flurry after the break proved the difference.

Shimizu, Fujino and Hasegawa all started for Japan in Colorado with the first half ending goalless despite the USA striking the crossbar through Claire Hutton.

But the hosts turned the screw after the break, with Naomi Girma breaking the deadlock from close-range after a well-worked corner inside two minutes of the restart.

Former City midfielder Rose Lavelle then made it two just before the hour mark with a confident finish after being sent through on goal by Trinity Rodman.

Coffey was introduced soon after the USA’s second, with number three following almost immediately when Kennedy Wesley completed the scoring with her first international goal.

Despite their best efforts, Japan couldn’t breach the hosts’ defence in the final minutes, with Shimizu, Hasegawa and Fujino all brought off with 15 minutes to play.
