The Federação Paulista de Futebol confirmed on Tuesday that Corinthians v Capivariano, a sixth-round Paulistão tie, has been moved to five February, a Thursday, at 20:30 at Neo Química Arena.
The switch reflects an adjustment to Corinthians’ calendar, as the fixture had been due on 31 January and the team face Flamengo in the Supercopa do Brasil on one February at Estádio Mané Garrincha in Brasília.
The new date precedes the first Dérbi of the year. Palmeiras visit on eight February, a Sunday, again at Neo Química Arena, making the run even more demanding for Dorival Júnior’s side.
It could also trigger a national reschedule. The away match at Athletico-PR in the Campeonato Brasileiro was initially set for four February, and the tight turnaround could see the CBF revise that date.
Corinthians face a packed month. They have six games in January, five in the Paulistão and one in the Brasileiro against Bahia, currently slated for 28 January, a Wednesday.
The squeeze is a consequence of the calendar reform begun in 2025, when the Brasileiro moved to a January start instead of March. The Paulistão was also adjusted, with a first phase reduced to eight rounds, in a format inspired by the current UEFA Champions League.
Corinthians began pre-season last Saturday and continue preparations for their 2026 opener, against Ponte Preta this Sunday at 16:00 at Neo Química Arena.
