The Federação Paulista de Futebol will elect its president for 2027 to 2030 on 25 March, according to Globo.com, after a notice was published on Monday.
Incumbent Reinaldo Carneiro Bastos is standing for re-election for what could be his fourth and final term. He took office in 2015 when former president Marco Polo Del Nero became CBF president, before later being banned over the Fifagate corruption scandal.
Reinaldo was returned in 2018 and 2022, both times by acclamation.
This time, however, opponents are moving to field a rival ticket. Lawyer Wilson Marqueti Júnior, formerly Procurador-Geral of São Paulo’s TJD, is working to position himself as Reinaldo’s challenger.
Under the FPF statute, any slate must be backed by at least 12 clubs, with five from Série A-1, three from A-2, two from A-3, one from the Segunda Divisão and one amateur league.
Candidacies must be filed no later than 15 days before the vote, meaning 10 March.
