France to request removal of Michael Olise yellow card after Paraguay clash

Michael Olise was shown a late yellow card during France’s 1-0 World Cup round of 16 win over Paraguay on Saturday.

According to L’Équipe, the French Football Federation are planning to appeal for Olise’s yellow card to be rescinded.

Olise was booked following an altercation with Matías Galarza. The Paraguayan player went to ground holding his face, but replays show the French attacker was only holding his opponent's shirt.

The booking could have significant consequences for France, as another yellow card for Olise in the quarter-final against Morocco on Thursday would result in a suspension for a potential semi-final.
