Frank Lampard has discussed the possibility of January player sales
Frank Lampard has issued a warning to Coventry City’s top stars about any desires to move away from the club in January.
The Sky Blues have enjoyed a strong first part of the season, and are now in a prime spot to compete for automatic promotion to the Premier League.
The likes of Haji Wright and Brandon Thomas-Asante have earned a lot of praise for their performances, with their goals powering the team to the top of the Championship table.
This has naturally led to speculation over the futures of both players as we approach the January transfer window, and their departures would be a big blow to the side.
However, it remains to be seen whether either forward could be tempted into a move midway through the campaign and with a chance at promotion on the cards.

Lampard has claimed that he has no interest in hearing about January interest in his first team players, suggesting that he doesn’t want any knocks on his door about a possible move.
However, the Coventry boss has reiterated the final decision on any transfer sales is not up to him, but has questioned why any player would want to walk away from the club as they’re on the cusp of achieving something special this season.
“I don’t care. And when I say that, I mean that the players are all invested in this season to try and get to where we want to get to,” said Lampard, via Coventry Live.
“So if anyone wants to knock on my door in January, then they’d better have the right tone or the right question for me because we’re all in this.
“I know and understand there’s a lot that goes on in the club and people that make decisions.
“I’m not the only decision maker.
“But if you isolate football and go where we’re at now, do you want to be part of it? That’s what I feel from all of the group.
“And I think regarding keeping our best players, if you want to be a team that keeps progressing and does well and is near the top league, you have to keep your best players.”
Lee Hendrie exclusively told FLW earlier this month that he believes Thomas-Asante could receive interest from the Premier League this January following his strong performances.
The forward has bagged 10 goals from 16 appearances in the Championship so far this season.
Meanwhile, Wright has contributed eight goals and one assist, with Coventry sitting comfortably top of the Championship table, 10 points clear of third place Stoke City.
Next up for Lampard’s side is a trip to face second place Middlesbrough on Tuesday evening in a 7.45pm kick-off.

Coventry finished inside the play-offs last season, missing out on promotion through a very late Dan Ballard goal in the semi-final clash against Sunderland.
So they have done well in the months since through keeping the squad together and not looking to make too many changes.
If they can manage that through January, then they stand a very strong chance of earning promotion to the Premier League after a number of near-misses.
