Rennes beat Angers 2-1 at Stade Raymond Kopa to extend their unbeaten Ligue 1 start and climb from eighth to fourth.

Przemysław Frankowski finished from close range in the ninth minute after Sebastian Szymański's cross. Jordan Lefort turned into his own net (17.) before Carlens Arcus headed in from Branco Van den Boomen's corner (35.).

Before the interval, Anthony Lopes kept Angers in it with a string of saves, while Rennes stayed compact after the restart and protected their lead.

Substitute Usman Simbakoli lifted the hosts after coming on (83.), glancing a header onto the bar (88.) before Brice Samba saved his point-blank header in the third minute of second half stoppage time.

Rennes controlled 56.3% possession and produced five shots on target. Angers delivered 12 corners and 19 attempts, but only three on target.
