Despite growing interest from Premier League sides in recent weeks, Mio Backhaus looks set to remain in the Bundesliga next season.
According to Sport BILD, fellow German topflight club SC Freiburg have won the race to sign the Werder Bremen shot-stopper.
The report states that he will join the Europa League finalists for a transfer fee of €15million plus a further €3million in potential bonuses.
Should this deal come off, Backhaus would be Freiburg's new record signing and become Bremen's biggest profit on a goalkeeper.
Furthermore, the deal is expected to be officially announced in the coming days, according to the popular tabloid.
This should also make it clear that Noah Atubolu is likely leaving Freiburg and has played his final game for the club in Istanbul.
It's virtually impossible that they would sign a record-breaking goalkeeper as their second-choice option and retain Atubolu too.
