According to Voetbal International, the Eredivisie side have turned down an opening bid from the Hammers as they seek between €18 and 20 (£15.4 and 17.1) million.

The Ireland international has been identified as the Championship side’s top target this summer as they seek promotion back to the Premier League.

Nuno Espírito Santo’s side finished 18th in the top flight in the previous campaign, and have so far only added Joel Veltman and Keiber Lamadrid to their first team squad.

West Ham have until 1 September to complete any remaining business before the market shuts, leaving them with three weeks to strike a deal for Parrott.

However, the new league season will get underway this weekend, with the London outfit set to face Burnley on Sunday.

It’s been claimed that West Ham’s deal to sign Parrott could accelerate quickly if they can get closer to AZ Alkmaar’s transfer demands.

It’s believed that the Irishman has given the green light to pursue a move to the London Stadium, and personal terms aren’t expected to be an issue.

However, RB Leipzig have emerged as competition for the striker, who has enjoyed two strong seasons in the Eredivisie.

The Bundesliga side have yet to make an offer, and are behind West Ham in the race for his signature.

But it’s understood that the Hammers will have to fend off their interest to seal a deal for the 24-year-old.

Parrott contributed 30 goals and six assists from 56 appearances across the last two league campaigns, and featured off the bench in their opening fixture of 2026/27 last weekend.

How West Ham fans feel about Troy Parrott pursuit

West Ham have been told to try and get the deal done for Parrott quickly, so that he can be available for the clash against Burnley.

Supporters are hoping to see some ambition from the Hammers this summer, and are encouraged by the pursuit of the former Tottenham Hotspur player.

A deal in the region of £17 million is also seen as a possible bargain, with some fans claiming he could be worth double that.

However, some fans have warned West Ham that another forward is not needed with Taty Castellanos still at the club.

Espírito Santo’s side will face the Clarets on 16 August in a 4pm kick-off.

Troy Parrott signing could be great business for West Ham

A deal for Parrott around the £17 million mark has the potential to be excellent business for West Ham.

However, a move to RB Leipzig could be quite tempting, as Parrott has excelled on the continent and may want the taste of the Bundesliga instead of the Championship.

Parrott has been brilliant for AZ Alkmaar, and it’s no surprise that they’re now looking to cash in.

West Ham have had a difficult time over the years securing a young striker to lead the line, and perhaps the 24-year-old could be the man to finally end their rut of disappointing signings up front.
