Rooted in the 13th arrondissement by the ring road, Paris 13 Atletico have climbed from the 10th tier to National, now Paris’s third club behind PSG and Paris FC while still resembling a tight-knit neighbourhood side.

As reported by L'Équipe, the former FC Gobelins rebranded to stress their Paris roots, though supporters still chant the old name. At Stade Pelé, the Gobelins Block watched a 0-0 draw with Concarneau on 12 December.

Director general Namori Keita says they work with about one million euros, short on facilities yet big on ideas. With only two and a half pitches, he talks of improved organisation compared to three years ago, no inferiority complex, and no discussion of Ligue 2.

Keita bridged the dugout gap after Maxence Flachez’s exit before Arlesio Coelho took over in November. Coelho, once an assistant, believes improved standards and a family spirit have changed perceptions, from a team expected to vanish to one that commands respect.

Bruno Ecuele Manga, 37, says he is motivated by love of the game rather than money, and that austere conditions sharpen a fighting edge. Vikash Dhorasoo assists Coelho while completing his coaching badges.

Local authorities have approved an expansion of Stade Pelé, and more matches will be played at Charléty following Paris FC’s move to Jean-Bouin. Pereira regrets the lack of loan links with PSG or Paris FC, and says they are preparing for Ligue 3 and professionalism. The Versailles derby on 23 January offers another cultural contrast.
