Fulham appoint Álvaro Arbeloa as head coach on three-year deal | OneFootball

Fulham have named Álvaro Arbeloa as their new head coach, the former Liverpool and Real Madrid defender succeeding Marco Silva.

Sunderland Echo reports that the Spaniard has signed a three-year contract at Craven Cottage after the previous head coach left for Benfica when his deal expired.

Fulham were the only side to complete a Premier League double over Sunderland last season, so the appointment will interest Black Cats supporters ahead of the new campaign.

Arbeloa, 43, represented Real Madrid, Liverpool and West Ham during his playing career. He made 98 appearances for Liverpool before returning to Madrid, where he collected major honours.

He later moved into coaching with Real Madrid and left the club in May. Fulham have moved quickly to fill the vacancy.
