According to Coluna Do Fla, Santos released a video of Gabigol addressing his recent comments about Cruzeiro and Flamengo after his declaration of love for the Rio club angered fans.

Gabriel Barbosa said he never meant to disrespect Santos, called it the club of his heart, and argued parts of his remarks were taken out of context. He added he respects Cruzeiro, has two years left on his deal, so said he would return, while stressing he wants to stay at Santos for a long time.

In a previous interview, he admitted he would like to go back to Flamengo, cautioning that football is unpredictable. He said the club still moves him and noted he has played more there than at Santos.

Gabigol is at Santos on loan, with his rights owned by Cruzeiro, and a return to the Minas club remains scheduled for the end of the loan, even though he had said the opposite.

Before leaving Flamengo, he recorded a renewal video that was never published, and his contract ended in 2024. He became an idol with decisive goals in Libertadores and Brasileirão finals, and his bond with fans endures.

Overall he played 308 games for Flamengo, scoring 161 and assisting 43. He won 13 trophies, including two Libertadores, two Brasileirãos, two Copas do Brasil, two Supercopas, one Recopa Sudamericana and four state titles.
