Grêmio have reached a record-equalling 17th Copa do Brasil semi-final, moving level with Flamengo for the most appearances at this stage.

According to Globo.com, Grêmio's most recent semi-final elimination was to Flamengo in 2023.

Flamengo hold the most Copa do Brasil final appearances with 10, one more than Grêmio. Knocked out in the fifth round, they could yet be matched on that tally. Both clubs have five titles, while Cruzeiro lead the roll of honour with six.

From past last-four runs, Grêmio won the competition in 1989, 1994, 1997, 2001 and 2016, and finished runners-up in 1991, 1993 and 1995.

They now face Atlético-MG, a tie that carries good memories for supporters as their last crown came against the Minas Gerais club.

The semi-finals are slated for one and eight November as base dates, with R$ nine million guaranteed to each qualifier. Progressing to the final secures a further R$ 34 million.
