According to Globo.com, the number nine leads Santos this season with 23 goals in 43 matches and is third in the Brasileirão scoring chart, behind Athletico-PR’s Viveros and Flamengo’s Pedro, both called up for September’s internationals by Colombia and Brazil.
He spoke at half-time during Friday’s meeting with São Paulo, then struck both goals in a 2-1 victory.
Brazil have two friendlies in Singapore in November, facing Japan on 14 and the hosts on 17.
Santos’ next six league fixtures are Flamengo at home, Atlético-MG away, Fluminense away, Bahia at home, Palmeiras at home and Bragantino away.
The striker hopes to maintain his level to stay in Carlo Ancelotti’s thoughts. He has not played for Brazil since 27 January 2022, a draw away to Ecuador in World Cup qualifying, when he came on after 33 minutes of the second half for Matheus Cunha. He was in the squad for the following win over Paraguay but did not feature.
Over his last five outings he has six goals and three assists. Neymar remains sidelined with a right thigh injury.
