Gabigol has been suspended after making an obscene gesture towards a supporter during Santos' match against Vitória on Saturday.

According to Glorioso 1904, the STJD's third disciplinary commission imposed a one-match ban.

The incident took place at Vila Belmiro in the 18th round of the Brasileirão. Having scored his side's third goal, the forward celebrated, then turned towards a criticising spectator and touched his genitals.

VAR, led by Wagner Reway, alerted referee Rafael Rodrigo Klein. After reviewing the footage, the official showed a straight red card.

His conduct was assessed under article 258 of the CBJD, which sanctions behaviour contrary to discipline and sporting ethics. Prosecutor Beatriz Calheta argued the gesture was disrespectful and incompatible with the image football should project, particularly to younger fans.

Santos' lawyer Marcelo Mendes accepted the mistake but contended Gabigol did not realise the act would be punishable when aimed at a supporter of his own team, and asked for the ban to be converted into a warning.
