Gabriel Brazão marked his 100th Santos appearance in a 2-2 draw at Mirassol on Tuesday, in the Brasileirão’s fifth round at José Maria de Campos Maia.
"It is a milestone I value greatly and I am grateful for my 100th game in the Santos shirt. We got the draw, it is tough to play at Maião and this point must be appreciated. It is good that the 100 games did not include a defeat," he told De Olho no Peixe.
Wearing the number 77, he has been first choice for two years. He has attracted enquiries from Flamengo, English clubs and Beşiktaş in Türkiye, but chose to stay.
Taffarel will watch him against Corinthians at Vila Belmiro on Sunday 15 at 16:00 in round six. He has started all five Brasileiro matches this year and nine in the Paulistão.
Signed in February 2024, he debuted after João Paulo’s Achilles injury in a 2-1 defeat to América-MG at Independência on 24 May in Série B, then kept the shirt and played 31 league games that year.
Last year he played all 38 Brasileiro rounds, 13 Paulista games, two in the Copa do Brasil and two friendlies, taking him to 100 club games. His contract runs to December 2028.
Born in Uberlândia, the 25-year-old came through Cruzeiro’s academy without a senior debut before joining Parma in 2019. He later played for Spal, Inter Milan and Ternara in Italy, and Albacete and Oviedo in Spain. Santos own 30% of his economic rights.
