Starting for the first time this season in Leeds United’s draw with Brighton & Hove Albion was defender Gabriel Gudmundsson, who was pleased with a point on his return to the team.

Jayden Bogle’s first half strike opened the scoring for the Whites but a goal for the host after the break saw the Seagulls salvage a point.

“I have been waiting for this,” the Swedish international told the media after the full-time whistle, delighted to get back out there on the pitch.

“Of course, it has been a tough period but again just a credit to the physio team that helped me here today very prepared.

“So, of course, overall very happy with the point here. I think Brighton, especially, is a very, very difficult place to come to. And to be honest, I think last year we were lost here quite bad.

“I think they are doing some very good stuff, good stuff in the right direction. Today a point, we definitely take that.

“I think we had really good two or three chances. We showed really good resilience today and fought very well in the second half. And we take that point today, of course.”

After an injury-hit start to the new campaign, Gudmundsson gave an insight into his return, heaping praise on those at Thorp Arch that have supported him along the way.

“Straight into the 90 minutes, of course, I am just so happy that my body feels okay. Probably will feel it tomorrow – that is another story!

“So, I just need to take care of my body. I got really good help from the medical team and the physios. Hopefully it is just going to be better and better now.

“And I just need to stay calm and focus on the weeks coming up. Need to get into the rhythm again but as I said, it felt good today.”
