Gabriel Gudmundsson has not recovered from an adductor issue in time for Leeds United’s trip to Everton this evening.

Daniel Farke said during the week that the defender was a doubt for Monday’s visit due to a small adductor problem. He missed training on Thursday and, after seemingly failing a late fitness test, was left out of the matchday squad.

With Gudmundsson sidelined, James Justin moved to left wing-back and Sebastiaan Bornauw returned to the starting XI for the first time since the 1-1 draw with Manchester United earlier this month. He lines up with Joe Rodon and Pascal Struijk in a back three ahead of Karl Darlow, with Jaka Bijol still out with a hamstring injury.

“Jaka Bijol, a rock for us in the last games, is still not available. Also Gabi Gudmundsson with an injury not available. Thank God Anton Stach is back after his short injury and he comes back into the starting-XI for Noah Okafor,” Farke told Sky Sports.

Farke looks to have gone with a three-man midfield at the Hill Dickinson Stadium, with Stach back from the minor groin issue that kept him out against Fulham last weekend. He has not displaced either Ethan Ampadu or Ilia Gruev, with both starting.

Dominic Calvert-Lewin kept his place at number nine to start against former club Everton, the 28-year-old one goal short of double figures in the Premier League. Brenden Aaronson starts alongside him after three goals in his last three appearances.

Leeds have only one defender on the bench, with Sam Byram available to cover both wing-back roles. The attacking options include Facundo Buonanotte, Willy Gnonto, Noah Okafor, Joel Piroe and last weekend’s match-winner Lukas Nmecha.
