Gabriel Gudmundsson says he is content at Leeds United and has paid little attention to reported Chelsea interest. He regards the links as a nod to his performances.

“I haven’t had a focus on it because there has been so much with Leeds, the World Cup and then I have become a father now so I have really zoned out from that part of football,” Gudmundsson said, as quoted by Sport Witness. “But it’s nice that they see me as an alternative and it’s a sign that something good has been done, then we’ll see what happens but I’m happy where I am.”

The 27-year-old has completed his first season at Elland Road, extended by Sweden’s World Cup run. He played all four matches as they reached the last-32, losing 3-0 to tournament favourites France.

He joined Leeds in a £10 million move last July and has racked up 48 appearances for club and country. It has been a relentless year on and off the pitch.

“Everything is so professional,” he added. “We have enjoyed ourselves since the first second we got there so we are very happy with the choice and are looking forward to what is to come.”

“Hand on heart I can say that the Leeds fans are the best in England and they have supported us in a really good way this season. I don’t think you understand how big the club is until you are in it.”
