Gabriel Pereira has landed in Rio de Janeiro to undergo medical tests before signing for Vasco on loan from Copenhagen, with an option to buy that could become an obligation if targets are met. According to Globo.com, the 26-year-old centre-back arrived at Galeão on Thursday night.
He travelled with his family and thanked supporters for their messages, as well as Admar, Pedrinho and his agent for helping conclude a difficult negotiation. He said he is in good shape after a long run of games and feels ready, though he must first complete medicals and earn his place in the squad.
Vasco announced the agreement on their social channels, adding that procedural steps would follow before he is officially confirmed as a new signing.
His wish to represent the club was key to the deal progressing. Born in Volta Redonda, he has a son who lives in Rio, which strengthened his desire to return to the state and play at São Januário.
Pereira has been a regular at Copenhagen for three seasons, making 97 appearances. He previously played in Portugal for Vilafranquense and Gil Vicente, and in Brazil has been professional only at Volta Redonda.
