According to Glorioso 1904, Galatasaray have opened formal talks with Benfica over Colombia international Richard Ríos, as the club from Türkiye target midfield reinforcements after completing the signing of Rafael Leão.

Ríos's standing at the Estádio da Luz has dipped since Marco Silva took charge, and he was unused in the trip to Aarhus. Competition has intensified following João Palhinha's arrival.

With Palhinha set to start in the deepest role, Fredrik Aursnes expected to retain his undisputed status when fit, and Georgiy Sudakov earmarked for a more creative berth, Ríos is a secondary option. Leandro Barreiro is also ahead in Marco Silva's plans.

This season, Ríos has appeared in six of Benfica's eight matches, starting only once, away to Hearts in Scotland. Marco Silva rotated that night given the comfortable first-leg lead.

The main obstacle could be Benfica's valuation. A price of 40 million euros has been suggested for the 26-year-old, a figure that may complicate negotiations with Galatasaray.
