Big news in the summer transfer window! Hooligan Soccer can report that Süper Lig champions Galatasaray have reached a full agreement on personal terms with Tottenham Hotspur’s 23-year-old midfielder, Pape Matar Sarr. The Senegalese international has accepted the Turkish side’s proposal for a three-year contract featuring an annual salary of $10 million. Sarr is extremely open to turning a new page in his career and is eager to move to Istanbul.
However, despite agreement on personal terms, negotiations between the two clubs remain at a stalemate. Tottenham Hotspur have adopted an unyielding posture regarding the player’s transfer fee.
Over the past weeks, Sarr was also being courted by Premier League sides Aston Villa and Brentford, along with Saudi Arabian club Al Ahli.. But our sources report that both Brentford and Aston Villa have officially announced their exit from the transfer race. Unwilling to enter a bidding war for a player who has already shaken hands with another club, the English sides have shifted their focus to alternative options. We have no information on Al Ahli’s stance, but suspect they will also step aside in their pursuit now that Galatasaray and Tottenham sit head-to-head at the bargaining table.
The Tottenham management hold a very strong hand in these negotiations. Sarr has a long-term contract with the London club running through June 2030, and Spurs feel no urgency or obligation to offload the player on the cheap. The English side appears fully prepared to retain the young star if their asking price is not met.
However, some recent squad developments at Tottenham increase the likelihood of this transfer materializing. New arrivals Sandro Tonali and Mateus Fernandes have escalated the central midfield competition to the highest level. In terms of squad engineering and budget equilibrium, the departure of Sarr has become a reasonable option. We understand that Tottenham’s technical staff are ready to approve the transfer under the right conditions to reduce this midfield congestion.
The primary obstacle preventing the completion of the transfer remains the significant gap in financial expectations between London and Istanbul. Tottenham management have opened talks demanding a fee between $44 million and $50 million to allow the Senegalese midfielder to depart. The English club is maintaining its identity as a ‘stubborn seller’, expecting an offer that fully reflects the player’s true market valuation.
On the other hand, Galatasaray’s current official proposal stands at approximately $33 million, including bonus structures. This creates a clear transfer valuation gap of $11 million to $17 million between the parties. Although communications between the two clubs remain intense and active, the process is proceeding on a delicate balance.
Galatasaray executives are building their transfer strategy around Sarr’s desire and determination to leave. The Lions are relying on the gentle pressure the player will apply to Tottenham management. The Turkish representative plans to submit a new, structured offer approaching $39 million including add-ons, which will feature realistic and achievable performance bonuses.
Whether the transfer reaches a successful conclusion will depend directly on the flexibility both clubs demonstrate regarding payment schedules and bonus clauses in the coming days. While Galatasaray aim to push their limits to finalize the move, Tottenham remain determined not to compromise on their established transfer threshold.
