Galatasaray ultras leader Sebahattin Sirin arrested in Türkiye probe | OneFootball

Sebahattin Sirin, whose real name is Muzaffer Sirin, the historic leader of UltrAslan, Galatasaray’s largest supporters’ group, has been arrested by Turkish authorities in Istanbul as part of a wide-ranging public prosecutor’s investigation that has rocked Türkiye’s sporting scene.

Police searched his home for eight and a half hours. According to the BBC, officers seized more than 1.3 million US dollars in cash and 840,000 euros, plus quantities of gold and jewellery, various currencies, a pistol, ammunition and four bulletproof vests.

Prosecutors have levelled severe allegations, including organised fraud in black-market ticket sales, possession and use of narcotic substances, and spreading misleading information, alongside causing disturbances inside sports stadiums.

Sirin was detained on Sunday, a day after a provocative post on X in which he alleged justice minister Akin Gurlek was part of a faction within the state seeking to see Fenerbahce crowned champions this season at Galatasaray’s expense. Galatasaray are the holders of the Turkish Super League title.

Neither the justice minister nor Fenerbahce has commented on those accusations.
