Maria Guardiola, the daughter of Manchester City manager Pep, has taken to Instagram in an emotional tribute to her father’s illustrious decade at the Etihad Stadium.

Guardiola will take charge of his final City game against Aston Villa and Unai Emery on Sunday evening, when the domestic cup double winners will also bid farewell to departing stars Bernardo Silva and John Stones.

City have announced that the newly-developed and expanded North Stand will be renamed ‘The Pep Guardiola Stand’ in honour of the Catalan, who will bring the curtain down on a trophy-laden spell in England on Sunday.

Executives at the Etihad Stadium have also commissioned a statue outside the stadium to commemorate the 55-year-old, who decided against seeing out the final year of his contract at City as he admitted on Friday that he was running out of energy.

In an emotional album highlighting the best moments her father enjoyed in Manchester, Pep’s daughter Maria gave City fans a lovely peak through the curtain into their best moments in England.

Maria and the wider Guardiola family, including Pep’s 94-year-old father Valenti, will be in attendance on Sunday as the Manchester City manager receives a warm send-off from the Etihad Stadium faithful against Aston Villa.
