Leicester City have been handed a timely lift as Jamaal Lascelles and top scorer Jordan James edge towards returns before Norwich City.

“Jamaal trained today, Jordan James trained today, it’s assessing those players tomorrow and making sensible decisions. If we can get them back in the squad, and I might need to put the medical teams’ arms around their back, that would be great.” He was speaking to BBC Sport Leicester.

City finished Tuesday’s 1-1 draw at Middlesbrough with only four fit defenders after Victor Kristiansen suffered a knock against Stoke City.

Lascelles, a transfer-window arrival who made a couple of starts after leaving Newcastle United, has missed the last two games but is closing in on availability.

James, on loan and with nine Championship goals this season, has not featured since 20 January because of a hamstring issue.

Norwich City visit at 12.30pm on Saturday. If either player is not ready, they could make the trip to Ipswich Town on seven March. Abdul Fatawu is ready to start this weekend, having been on the bench at the Riverside Stadium and not involved against Stoke City.
