Gennaro Gattuso expects Lazio to address at least four positions this summer, namely defence, right-back, left-wing cover and a striker.
Il Messaggero reports he has mapped out those needs as he heads to Formello this week to sign and replace Maurizio Sarri. Spending power hinges on a supervisory committee review, but Lazio have done enough to avoid a repeat of last season’s transfer ban.
At centre-back, Alessio Romagnoli remains keen on Al-Sadd and Mario Gila’s future is unclear, with Napoli leading the chase. Lazio await a response from Diogo Leite, whose contract at Union Berlin expires this month, and are studying Dinamo Zagreb’s Sergi Dominguez, also linked with Tottenham Hotspur.
A right-back could arrive if Manuel Lazzari leaves, with Sassuolo interested. Arnau Martinez is the preferred option alongside Adam Marusic, valued at €15 million in January and potentially cheaper after Girona’s relegation, with his deal up next year.
Gattuso has convinced captain Mattia Zaccagni to stay despite Olympique Marseille interest, but he needs left-wing cover after Pedro’s retirement and Daniel Maldini’s expected return to Atalanta.
A striker is the priority after a goal-shy season. The hierarchy want Gattuso to help Petar Ratkov settle, yet extra firepower is sought, with Cagliari’s Sebastiano Esposito leading the shortlist.
No midfielder has been requested despite Toma Basic joining Venezia, and Patric could switch permanently to the middle.
