Germany debut set to trigger six-figure bonuses for Köln star El Mala | OneFootball

After being left out of Germany’s World Cup squad by Julian Nagelsmann, Said El Mala was included in Jürgen Klopp’s expanded 44-man squad for the upcoming four UEFA Nations League fixtures.

Named in the second of two squads announced by Klopp, which will be active for the third and fourth of these games, El Mala could make his senior debut for Germany against Serbia on October 1.

This would reportedly trigger a financial windfall for the youngster, with Sport Bild reporting that a clause in his Köln contract entitles him to a €100,000 payment when he makes his Germany debut.

Further appearances in the Germany shirt – such as his fifth and tenth – will increase his current salary of around €3 million per year, the report adds.

In addition, El Mala will reportedly receive €175,000 from commercial partner Nike once he makes his debut, with further bonuses of €120,000 following every five appearances (fifth, 10th, 15th, and so on).

Meanwhile, video game company EA Sports will pay El Mala a bonus of around €50,000 for his Germany debut, while the youngster’s contract with trading card company Topps could earn him up to €700,000 over four years. That deal also includes an increase following his first appearance for Germany.

Adding the three specified debut bonuses together, El Mala will  receive at least €325,000 when he makes his first appearance for Germany, excluding any additional increase from his Topps deal.
