Getafe have signed Belgium international Orel Mangala, 28, on a season-long loan from Lyon.
Lyon are trimming their squad and moving on several high earners. They lost the Champions League third qualifying round first leg to Sparta Prague on Tuesday. Getafe will cover part of Mangala’s wages, and L’Equipe reports that his departure will lead to further exits as Lyon look to balance their books.

Mangala joined Lyon from Nottingham Forest in 2024 on a four-year contract.
His time in France was disrupted by a serious ACL injury while he was on loan at Everton last year.
He remains contracted to Lyon until 2028.
