Gianluca Prestianni has dismissed talk of a move to River Plate, saying his focus is on Europe after scoring his first Argentina goal in a 7-0 win over Burkina Faso.
The Benfica winger, 20, enjoyed a memorable night with the national team, then met Nicolas Otamendi and received a River Plate shirt from the former Benfica captain, who now plays for the club, according to Glorioso 1904.
Asked if he fancied a return to Argentine football, Prestianni repeatedly said no. He stressed he is 20, enjoying a very good spell and intends to spend several years adapting and developing in Europe, while accepting nobody knows what the future might bring.
On Otamendi’s gift, he said the defender had promised him a shirt. Before this camp he asked Otamendi to keep one aside because he thought it looked very nice.
Prestianni said he was delighted with his first senior goal and an assist for the fifth in the 7-0 victory. He added he is savouring the moment and that every milestone also belongs to his family.
