Gianni Infantino abandons FIFA commercial company plan as FIFA admits mistakes

Overnight between 31 July and one August, Gianni Infantino announced he was abandoning his plan, citing divisions he said no longer served the original aim.

A document labelled strictly private and confidential quickly looked outdated following that decision.

After a crisis meeting, FIFA acknowledged late on Wednesday that mistakes had been made.

The governing body also sent letters of apology to all 211 member federations.

The shelved proposal concerned the creation of a new FIFA commercial company.
