Hervé Renard targets trophies on Côte d’Ivoire return | OneFootball

Hervé Renard was presented to the media at the Ivorian federation headquarters on Thursday, returning as Côte d’Ivoire head coach and acknowledging the scale of the challenge ahead.

The federation announced on Tuesday that the 57-year-old had been reappointed on a two-year deal, starting a second stint after guiding the Elephants to the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations title. He previously led them in 2014 and 2015.

Renard said he felt proud and honoured to return, adding that back-to-back AFCONs in 2027 and 2028 represent a major task given the country’s high expectations. He said Côte d’Ivoire operate at the top level of African football, that the team is built to win trophies and that standards must be at their maximum to secure the best possible results.

After a short, unsuccessful rescue mission with Tunisia at the World Cup, he now sets his sights on another continental crown, having won AFCON with Zambia in 2012 and with Côte d’Ivoire in 2015.

This appointment marks the start of his 10th tenure in charge of a national team. He indicated that answering Côte d’Ivoire’s call required little hesitation.
