Match summary

Things went in the wrong direction from the start. As early as the second minute, Uka appeared on the left side of our goal, but the top team in the ADMIRAL Bundesliga failed to capitalise on this good opportunity. They made no mistake with the next chance, however: Cordes inherited the ball after a Pfattner corner, and all attempts to clear it were too late – the ball was already over the line (7'). Then Schöffel burst through with energy, and Pfanner had no trouble converting the pass in the middle (21').

Things then got worse: a throw-in near the halfway line wasn't quick enough for the referee. Austria were allowed the throw-in instead, and Schöffel ended up scoring (30'). Pfanner, after a dribble by Uka (38'), and Uka, this time herself (41'), added to the score before half-time.

In the second half, our team appeared more settled and created chances through Lena Triendl and then Emelie Kobler. Although Cordes added to the rout, firing an unstoppable shot into the right corner of the net from the penalty spot (56'), our Salzburg team managed largely to contain the purple-clad attacking force. However, they weren't entirely successful in doing so. Pötzl skillfully controlled a long pass, and the substitute remained composed in a one-on-one (90'). So, at the end of the day, a sobering 0-7 scoreline was all we had to show for our efforts.

They demonstrated how they have got to their position in the league and also in Europe. It was an unpleasant experience, but one that is part of the process. Of course, things don't get any easier when you start as we did. You can easily get crushed – and that's exactly what happened to us. We will take this painful experience with us and use it for the future to improve, to train even harder, and to come back stronger!
