Brazilians top tree again, Salzburg fifth

This year's Next Generation Trophy has come to a close, with Red Bull Bragantino claiming their fourth consecutive tournament victory. In a closely contested final, Iarley Santos opened the scoring, with the Brazilian striker providing the first highlight of the match against Yeelen Olympique with a solo effort (28'). Mali's late attacking efforts fizzled out, and instead, Araujo sealed the 2-0 win with a penalty (49').

Santos also received the trophy for best player of the tournament, while his goalkeeper, Daniel Arcon, was honoured as best goalkeeper. The top scorer is from Salzburg: Leandro Chocholaty, with five goals, took home the honour!

The hosts from the Red Bull Football Academy put together a very solid Next Gen campaign. Following a resounding 9-0 victory over Manchester City, they secured a 1-0 win against RB Omiya Ardija. Although Yeelen Olympique prevailed 2-0 in the subsequent quarter-final, the Salzburg Young Bulls redeemed themselves by defeating the New York Red Bulls (5-4 on penalties) and Academia Alemana de Futbol Popayan (2-0) to secure fifth place in the final standings.

This year's Next Generation Trophy once again impressively underscored why it is one of the most prestigious youth tournaments worldwide. For three days, the Red Bull Football Academy showcased youth football at the highest level. My thanks go to all participating teams for a fair and high-calibre competition, as well as to my colleagues who once again created optimal conditions both on and off the pitch. I would especially like to congratulate Red Bull Bragantino on their well-deserved fourth consecutive tournament victory.

The Next Gen tournament was once again a real highlight – with top-notch organisation, superb facilities, and really strong teams from all over the world! Unfortunately, we came up short in the quarter-finals in a 50/50 match against the eventual finalists, but we showed our mettle throughout all five games, played our style of football, and demonstrated incredible team spirit. It was a tournament of the highest calibre, where our boys were able to prove themselves and develop. We're ready for the league season to start next week and want to take the next steps in our development together.
