Giroud ‘very probably in his last season’ as career end approaches | OneFootball

Olivier Giroud has suggested he is very probably in his last season, with retirement expected at the end of 2026/27.

“We can do interviews for L'Équipe next year, with pleasure, but as a player, I think it is very probably my last season. That is why I am enjoying every moment,” he said. He was speaking to L'Équipe.

Giroud began at Grenoble in 2006 before spells with Arsenal, Chelsea and AC Milan, lifting the Champions League with the Blues in 2021. He has been with Lille since summer 2025.

He has scored 57 goals for France and was, for a time, the national team’s leading scorer before Kylian Mbappé overtook him.

The forward, a 2018 World Cup winner, was speaking on the eve of his 40th birthday.
