Olivier Giroud says this is very probably his final season | OneFootball

Olivier Giroud has suggested he will bring his playing career to a close at the end of the current season with LOSC.

Speaking to L'Équipe on his 40th birthday, the LOSC forward said: "As a player, I think it is very probably my last season. That is why I am enjoying every moment."

Giroud began his professional career in 2006 with Grenoble in Ligue 2, then moved to England for five and a half years at Arsenal before two and a half seasons at Chelsea. He is due to face Arsenal on 13 October in matchday two of the Champions League league phase.

He bade farewell to France in July 2024 after 137 caps and 57 goals. His honours include Serie A with Milan in 2022 and the 2024 US Open Cup with Los Angeles FC, plus Ligue 1 with Montpellier in 2012, four FA Cups in 2014, 2015, 2017 and 2018, the Europa League in 2019 and the Champions League in 2021.

After five rounds, LOSC sit just outside the Ligue 1 top three, level with Stade Rennais on 10 points.
