German football faces a setback, with Borussia Mönchengladbach’s 17-year-old forward Wael Moyha poised to choose Morocco over the four-time World Cup winners at senior level.
Sport BILD reports that very concrete talks with the Moroccan federation have taken place in recent days about a switch of allegiance.
Born and raised in Germany, Moyha has represented the country from U-16 through to U-18.
He qualifies for the Atlas Lions through his parents, who both hold Moroccan citizenship.
In July last year, current Gladbach scout Roland Virkus urged caution but lauded Moyha’s maturity, smart decision-making and eagerness to learn, describing him as an exciting prospect.
