Eintracht U19s largely dominated their SSC Napoli counterparts in the UEFA Youth League, hitting the bar and missing a penalty, but had to settle for a 0-0 draw.

After the early exchanges at the Stadio Giuseppe Piccolo, the Eagles took control of the game but Benjamin Dzanovic, Niko Ilicevic and Junior Awusi were all denied by the impressive Napoli goalkeeper David Spinelli in the first half, leaving it goalless at the break.

Dills denied by woodwork

Eintracht switched to a more attacking 4-3-3 formation in the second half and were unfortunate that Marvin Dills hit the crossbar with his effort in the 50th minute.

Penalty for Eintracht

From then on, the game swung back and forth more and more frequently, with no trace of the one-way traffic seen in the first half. It was Dills once more who made things happen on 68 minutes, driving towards goal and winning a penalty, which he took himself but fired over.

No beating Spinelli

Frankfurt kept pushing in search of a late winner. Awusi’s whipped cross from the right narrowly eluded the foot of a teammate in the 84th minute. Then in stoppage time, the Eintracht talents were nearly rewarded for their relentless pressure but Spinelli made a double save against Ilicevic and Leonidas Tsiokos. They were attempts number 18 and 19 for the young Eagles, but their efforts remained unrewarded as it finished 0-0.
