Gonzalo Plata will remain at Flamengo after a proposed move to Dynamo Moscow fell through. The player said in a post that his attention is back on the Rio club and he is ready to contribute.

Dynamo Moscow’s medical flagged patellar tendon tendinopathy, so the club halted the deal before any contract was signed and no paperwork was sent to Flamengo.

Flamengo had not recorded any patellar tendon complaint before the winger travelled to Russia, and the conflicting medical conclusions have left the board uneasy.

Plata explored options elsewhere during the uncertainty that followed the collapse of the Moscow talks, but his weekend message draws a line under that. He arrived in Rio on Sunday after flying direct from Russia, with his return coinciding with Flamengo’s match against Remo in Belém.

Flamengo faced Remo in round 26 of the Brasileirão at Mangueirão, and next visit Independiente del Valle in Ecuador on Thursday 10 in the first leg of the Libertadores quarter-finals. Plata is expected to resume training at Ninho do Urubu this week, while any involvement against Independiente del Valle depends on the coaching staff’s assessment.
