El País reports that the Government will today approve a royal decree to permanently add four Liga F fixtures to the quiniela. The move has been driven by the Consejo Superior de Deportes.

The quiniela currently features men’s Primera and Segunda División fixtures. The change will add selections from the top women’s competition.

Liga F has been recognised as a professional competition since the 2022-2023 season. A share of quiniela revenues will go to its 16 clubs, rather than exclusively to men’s teams.

The plan also aims to boost visibility for women’s football, where attendances remain modest and salaries are lower.

This is not the first time Liga F has appeared in the quiniela, with occasional inclusions dating back to the game’s creation in 1946.
