Liga F fixtures will appear on football pools coupons from 2026/27, initially four per round. The bigger shift is financial, with a royal decree setting the women’s professional league’s share of betting tax proceeds.
El Periódico Mediterráneo reports that women’s games have appeared sporadically since 2017, but consistent inclusion is new. The 2022 Sports Law guaranteed access to betting-tax revenue, leaving the split with the men’s professional league to be fixed by regulation.
The government’s decree assigns Liga F 15% of total receipts, which is one third of the pot earmarked for male and female clubs. It will apply from 1 July 2026, three and a half years after the law ordered the distribution.
Players’ union AFE pressed the case from 2019 through #QuinielasEnFemenino. After the new law, the PP won a non-binding motion in June 2024 urging the inclusion of Liga F ties, and a pre-consultation opened in September 2024 across six ministries.
By various estimates, the allocation could bring around 5 million euros a year to Liga F, helping offset the end of government subsidies tied to the league’s professionalisation. Clubs received 20 million euros across 2022-25 and 7.5 million this season to professionalise operations.
Without those grants, the league’s industry generates about 15 million euros annually, so pools income could lift revenues by roughly 33%. Even so, the pools market has shrunk, down 70% in 15 years, from 543 million euros in 2009 to 163 million in 2024.
