According to Sport Bild, there are two reasons as to why Bayern Munich withdrew from their pursuit of Nico Williams last summer.
With clear interest from the Bavarian giants, a meeting with agent Félix Tainta took place at Säbener Straße on 9 June.
Both sides exchanged ideas, but Bayern's sporting director Max Eberl ultimately came to the conclusion to not sign the Spaniard.
BILD writes that the player's side was solely concerned with the big money – a fixed salary of €22million was on the table.
However, it wasn't just the Williams faction's focus on the financial aspects of a potential deal that deterred the record champions.
According to the report, Eberl has been working with a secret data firm for ten years that assists him with recruitment processes.
When Eberl is looking for a specific player profile, he compares his information with the data provided by the company.
Williams reportedly performed particularly poorly defensively and didn't meet the expectations of Eberl in tracking back.
This quickly brought another name into the picture in the form of Luis Díaz, who ultimately left Liverpool to join Bayern instead.
