Grêmio have settled overdue payments owed to Carlos Vinicius as they push to extend the striker’s contract. The club have tabled a deal running to the end of 2028.

According to Globo.com, the cleared sums covered commissions due to his entourage and signing-on fees from his arrival. The board are awaiting a response from the player’s camp.

Carlos Vinicius recently rejected an offer from América of Mexico. He is tied to Grêmio until the end of 2026 and is free to sign a pre-contract with another club.

Even before the undisclosed amounts were paid, Grêmio were confident of agreeing fresh terms. That stance has not changed.

Signed in July 2025 under president Alberto Guerra, Carlos Vinicius has scored 30 goals in 54 appearances. Keeping him in Porto Alegre is regarded as a priority for Odorico Roman’s administration, which took office in December.
