Grêmio completed a double session on Thursday, giving Renato Portaluppi room to trial new ideas. Right-back Diego Caito took part in light ball work, lifting his chances of featuring in Friday's training game.

According to Globo.com, a three-man midfield was tested with Danilo Barbosa, Dodi and Nardoni. For the Remo game, Villasanti may fill one of those roles, and the club are working to have him in Belém in time.

Renato also looked at Wallace and Kannemann as a centre-back pairing, a change from his re-debut against Palmeiras, a draw in which Balbuena formed part of a back three.

The current plan points to Pavon, Amuzu and Carlos Vinicius up front. In training, their opposition was drawn from the academy.

Noriega, on Peru duty during the FIFA window, and centre-back Gustavo Martins are suspended for Remo. Left-back Marlon remains in physical transition and is not yet training with the ball, while Pedro Gabriel is with Brazil under-20 after feeling muscle discomfort earlier in camp. Caio Paulista is the alternative at left-back, and on the right João Pedro starts if Caito is unavailable.

Grêmio meet the Sindicato dos Atletas Profissionais do RS on Friday at 15:30 at CT Luiz Carvalho. Renato should use the run-out to assess variations before facing Remo next Wednesday at 19:30.
