Grêmio will be without midfielder Juan Nardoni for the Copa do Brasil quarter-final Grenal first leg on 27 August at Beira-Rio after he was injured against Atlético-MG.

The club said in a statement that Nardoni sustained a sprain to the posterior capsule of his right knee, while defender Gustavo Martins has muscular oedema in his left adductor longus. Both have started physiotherapy and will be monitored daily.

Nardoni was withdrawn at half-time at Arena MRV. Filip Krovinovic, who came on at the interval on Sunday to make his debut, is in contention to start.

Unlike Nardoni, Martins is not a major concern. He will be rested against RB Bragantino and is expected to be available for the derby. He had pubic discomfort last week, asked to play at Arena MRV, and had agreed to come off if the pain returned, which it did.

The return leg of the quarter-final will be played at the Arena.
